Catacombs review
The Catacombs Haunted House is located at 3935 N Melvina Ave, Chicago, IL 60634. Tickets are $10 and VIP are $18. The Halloween Blast team has been coming to Catacombs since back when it was St. Pascal’s Haunted House. We’ve been coming to St. Pascal for almost 10 years now and from then to now there been so many changes over the years. This year is their 30th anniversary and out of the 10 years, I have never seen them so busy before. They have come so far and it only gets better from there.
As we waited in line, we saw Stitches with a live rat scaring people. The messed up part was HE PUT THE RAT IN HIS MOUTH!!! Next we saw Shut Down the clown. Shut Down chased this little kid around his father singing ring around the rosy. Then he pull out this small bike and starts riding around on it like a true clown. We finally get into a funeral room with a real casket. The lady explains the rules and as we were listening to her, Bubbles the clown comes walking into the room having a stare down with this teenager sitting up front. He stared down this guy for like 2 minutes before finally scaring the teen by screaming when he looked away. Not going to lie, Bubbles got me too and I was watching the stare down the entire time.
There was a lot of stuff that stood out as we walked through the haunt. First thing was the mirror maze. Now yes, there are haunts that have this but the catacombs put these red laser dots that bounced off the mirror. To my review team, it was really cool. Another thing that stood out was the zombie containment box. You walk into this room and they lock you in with the zombies and sterilize you in the room with smoke just like in the movie. As we walk through the haunt we got to this hallway. There was this girl saying help me, then all of the sudden she started screaming and banging her body into the wall like a crazy person. Then started banging her head against the wall then started flipping out again. I’m sorry for my laughing but holy crap, this girl bang her body again the wall then started banging her head against the wall. I’m an ex haunter. I have worked for haunts before I created Halloween Blast. I never ever done anything like that before. This girl took it to a whole new level of crazy. Great job to that actor in that hallway. I take my hat off to you.
For a haunt that you pay little money for, not many people hear of The Catacombs. Every year they try to take it to the next level to keep up with the big haunts and they do a great job. A lot of the big haunts have heard of St. Pascal’s Catacombs and even they have said that St. Pascal does a really great job and this is coming from the top haunts of Illinois. I’m not making this up, I swear to you. St. Pascal does a very good job of putting on one hell of a show.Yes, it takes 15 minutes to walk through the haunt. The only bad thing I can say about them is there not long enough. When you get to the end, you want to see more. That’s how good they are. Everyone at The Catacombs from management, people who builded the set, and of course all the actors did an amazing. Everyone who works for The Catacombs, great job, don’t stop what you doing and keep up the great work! And to the people who read this review please go check them out. Yes, it’s a small haunt, but it a haunt you won’t forget!!!!!!
