13th Floor Review 2024

Halloween Blast went to the 13th Floor Haunted House. It is located at 5050 River Rd, Schiller Park, IL 60176. It took our team 16 minutes to walk through the entire haunt. Ticket prices vary from $19.99 to $36.99 depending on the day that you choose to go. Please visit https://13thfloorchicago.com for more information on ticket prices.

A few things for you before you head to the haunt! Parking is available for $25, if you bring cash then it is $20. You can also find free parking around the area, but you will have to walk. There is a waiver you MUST sign before you go in, so please check your email at the bottom after you purchase tickets. Wear comfortable walking shoes, because you will be walking on uneven ground. You will WALK not RUN! Also, check the weather before you go, because the majority of your wait will be outside. We went early, so I think we waited for about a total of 10-15 mins outside and 20-25 mins inside. This time when I went, it was really hot during the entire haunted house, but last year when I went it was really cold and I had to bundle up. It’s inside a warehouse, think of what the weather the last few days has been and use your judgment.

Before you even walk into the haunt, you are greeted with a few characters and they will interact with you. One specific character that we met was Pumpkin the Clown! She told us we were supposed to say she was our FAVORITE! While we were there, she was holding a few kids’ hands and they even paid her to babysit! We had a really good laugh from it.

While we waited in line, we noticed one of the characters peeking from behind the curtain so Karen put her hand out and he gave her a high five! Then, when we walked into the haunt, he jumped out from behind the curtain to scare her. He was very energetic! Loved the energy from him! We also loved how interactive he was while we waited in line.

One of our favorite rooms was the Demonic Church. That room definitely has uneven walking grounds, and you felt tipsy while walking through. They have some really cool special effects for it! Our other favorite room was the Hobo Alleyway. They had a few hobos in there to scare you, but we thought the alleyway was really cool. The way they built the rooms, it really felt like you were in an alley from New York in a horror movie! The last room that we really enjoyed walking through was when we walked through a closet into a laundry room. There was a MASSIVE pile of laundry laying on the floor. It looks like someone forgot to do a year’s worth of laundry! 13th Floor added a new room, but all we can tell you is that it is a cool ship design! We don’t want to spoil the rest. Although, we do want to see more added to the ship room in the future!

There is one thing we must touch on. The first half of the haunt was amazing. The actors were really energetic and really played their characters well. You could tell they were having a lot of fun, but once we got half way through the haunt some of the actors did absolutely nothing and just stared at you. They did not move or even attempt to scare you. It was not just one actor that did this, there were quite a few. Now, we’re not going to say all actors were like this. Like was said earlier, some actors were really into it, and you could tell they were having fun. It could have just been that they were new and still trying to get into the groove, or that it was really hot and it was draining their energy levels, but we hope they take this as something to improve on.

This year, 13th floor left us with some mixed feelings. The sets and some of the acting are great, then there are some parts that are not so much. This is still early in the season, so there is always room for improvement. So over the next upcoming weeks, things might get better and the show can improve. Their show could turn out to be amazing on other nights. It’s hard to say because haunts have just opened up, so like we said maybe next time when you visit the 13th floor their show might be totally different when you visit. Only time will tell.
