Halloween Blast visited Hells Gate Haunted House on October 6th, 2024. For this event, you will park at 301 W. 2nd Street, Lockport IL 60441. Parking is Free! After parking there is a bus that will take you to the haunted house for free. It took our team 35 minutes to walk through the haunt. Ticket prices range from $40 to $160 depending on the package you choose. If you buy tickets online rather than onsite, you will save $5. When arriving at the parking lot, they have a few food trucks such as funnel cakes, tacos, lemonade and much more. We definitely recommend a funnel cake because it was so good! Karen & David scarfed one down before we got on the bus. We also tried fried Oreos, steak tacos and horchata after the haunt. Hells Gate scared the appetite into us. It was all so tasty! They also have porta potties with lights, but no place to wash your hands so bring sanitizer! This haunt is both outside and indoors, so please dress appropriately!
After the bus drops you off in the middle of the woods, you will see the ticket booth, a bar, where you can buy a shark attack drink and add alcohol to it if you’d like. There is a huge tent where you are waiting in line to enter the forest. As we waited in line, we had a gift for Fluffy, a stuffed white bunny. If you know Fluffy, then you know he doesn’t like stuffed animals. If you don’t know Fluffy, then bring a stuffed animal that you don’t care about. Watch out for Sharky if you have any fun belongings that she likes, they may or may not get taken!
When you enter the forest, they have a lot of new changes. Karen’s favorite was the pumpkin area. They added so many details! It would be so cool if they added a pumpkin man in a costume to hide, blend in, and then scare people!
After the forest, you walk into the house. We have to say, their pre-show when you first enter is always so creepy. Every single time we go, we get the creeps. They do such a great job of synching the twins together! The darkness follows you through the entire house, even possessing the dolls. If you don’t like dolls, this room will give you the chills. There are dolls everywhere in nearly every single spot! After the doll room you will enter a giant closet where they managed to scare David. Who knew you could get a good scare in the closet!
If you have been to this haunt in previous years, you will remember the key room where you had to find a key and your ticket was free. Well, that room has now been removed. They changed everything! It’s now a scary lab. They even have a head in a jar! It was freaking Karen out and at the same time was SO cool! You have to see this room for yourself! It felt like we were in a horror movie seeing a bad science experiment go wrong like in an old Frankenstein scene!
All in all, Hells Gate did a fantastic job as always. They always put on an amazing show, and we don’t think they ever had a bad night that we can remember. The acting is on point, the set design is breathtaking. Every time you buy a ticket, you will always get your money’s worth. Hell’s Gate will always leave you with something to remember!
