Massacre Review 2024

Halloween Blast visited Massacre Haunted House this weekend, located at 299 Montgomery Rd, Montgomery Illinois 60538. It took our team 26  minutes to walk through the entire haunt. Tickets prices vary from $34.99- $64.99 depending on the package you choose. General Admission starts at $34.99, Fast Pass is $49.99 and Skip the Line VIP is $64.99. They have an add on option in which you can throw 5 axes for $5 and you can win a T-shirt! For more Information you can visit their website. https://fearthemassacre.com

A few things to tell you before you head to the haunt. Parking is free and check the weather before you go because you will be waiting outside. We went early, so I think we waited for about a total of 30-35 minutes outside and 25-30 minutes inside. It was kinda cold outside while we waited and then inside it was very hot.

Before you even go into the haunt, you are greeted by a few characters that will interact with you. A specific character we met was Clarence the Merchant who was selling watches out of his coat. We were surprised with how many watches he had. He asked Karen if she wanted to buy a watch and she told him “only if it’s Harry Potter” and he told her, “No, I don’t have any of those”. Then he moved on to David asking if he wanted to buy a watch, and David replied “no, but how much is the flask?”. Clarence tol him it’s not for sale. I would recommend you stay out of his splash zone, because when he drinks out of his flask, it doesn’t stay in his mouth for very long!

After about 35 minutes, we finally moved inside. Waiting inside felt like we were at a concert! It is very warm once inside. They have a DJ with music, where you can dance all the way to the front of the line. They also have a bar that sells jello shot syringes and some other drinks that you must be 21 to buy. They also have an option where you can take a picture and buy it, collecting it from the shop at the end of the haunt. While waiting in line, you are sure to have characters entertain and greet you. One character that stuck out was Stitch. Stitch is a clown that ran around with a squirt bottle. He got Karen at least 3 times. If you don’t want to get wet, we recommend you maybe duck when you see Stitch coming. Although, it is kind of refreshing with it being hot inside. Stitch also got David on his pants, so it looked like he peed himself til it dried. He is very fun to interact with and took a few photos with us.

We finally made it to the front of the line and walked into the haunt. One of the things that stood out to us was the torture room. Karen was nervous and freaked out because the room was dark and she didn’t know what was going to happen. We won’t tell you what happens next, but if you have back injuries maybe ask to sit this out cause there is a lot of sudden intense movement. Karen really enjoyed her first time going through that particular room.

Another room that gave us the creeps was the Mannequin/Mummy room. At first we thought maybe this room was going to be empty, but the actor did a wonderful job of being able to blend in with the props of the room. Before we exited, she popped up and told Karen to,  “stay here with me, I’ll pay you more than your boss!”, which had David laughing. We love that comical ending!

We also had an awesome experience in the elevator. The elevator attendant did such a wonderful job. They really played with your senses, moving with the lights. The lights will turn on so you see him, and then the lights go out, disorienting you again. Fear really builds up while you’re in the elevator. One second he was on the floor next to you, and then the next second he was in your face up close. It’s freaky because you know where he is going to end up next.

All in all, we had a BLAST at Massacre, and all the characters both in the haunt as well as the line actors did a great job of scaring and entertaining us and we are looking forward to returning in the future.
