Halloween Blast visited Midnight Terror Haunted House this past weekend. They are located at 5520 W 11th St, Oak Lawn, IL. It took our team 25 minutes to walk through the entire haunt. Ticket costs range between $30-$77 depending on the day and type of ticket you choose. General admission starts at $31, Fast pass is $52 and Immediate Access is $77. They also have add ons such as Escape Rooms for $10 per person and Axe Throwing $5 each person for 5 axes. For more information, visit their website. https://midnightterrorhauntedhouse.com

A few things before you head into the haunt. Midnight Terror has a parking lot right next to the haunt so parking is FREE. You will be waiting outside, so please check the weather before you go and dress accordingly. We didnt even have a chance to walk into the line and Karen got scared by Malum. He is a super tall demon. While you wait in line, they have a few characters that will scare the pants off of you!  While we were waiting in line, Karen also got scared by Kov who was carrying a stop sign. That was already 2 scares in less than 5 minutes! We were really impressed because we have been doing this so long, it’s gotten harder and harder to scare us. Due to this fact, we would recommend you use the bathroom before you go if only to save your pants! Most porta potties have had no lights, so you’re using the bathroom in pitch black darkness. We are happy to highlight that they have porta potties with lights both before and after the haunt.

The first part of the haunt we walked through was the factory. While walking through, we walked into a bathroom with a bunch of toilets and showers and then we saw an actor just digging out of a disgusting looking toilet and making it look like he was eating poop! Karen was so grossed out, but we were also thinking maybe they could include stinky smells in here. They did a really great job with the makeup and covering his arms and face with “poop”. Also, they had people in the showers. When you let your guard down thinking it was an animatoric, someone popped out to scare you. David was a victim to the shower scare. Another part that stood out to us was a man getting his skin burned off. They made this effect work so well, using the fog in a way to make it look like steam burning his skin off was genius! They had a girl who we thought was an animatoric that was shaking so violently you wouldnt even think twice. An actor had gone to scare David and Karen kept walking but all of a sudden the girl who we thought was a animatoric came to life and scared her half to death! This was now our first scare inside the haunt, and 3rd of the night!

Next, we walked through Black Oak Grove. We love how they made it feel like a real town, with real shops. They had a school, an ice cream store, a barber shop and more! As we walked through this part of the haunt, we came across a really great scene. It was when we were walking through one of the rooms. A lot of haunts have an old black and white tv going,or a TV with static and white noise. This room had a TV with a cloth that made it look like the tv had static and then a girl popped out of the static to scare us! This was brilliant! While still reeling from the scare, we walked into a garden that had so much running water, and we loved how they made it seem like they had a bunch of trees and plants that were growing in the haunt. The actors did a wonderful job of hiding in the forest and using the dark areas to hide while unsuspecting guests come around the corner and get scared. Dont trust every plant to be just a plant!

We were definitely freaked out during this entire haunt and when we finally thought it was over there was MORE. We walked into a maze full of clowns with chainsaws. If you dont like clowns or chain saws, then this part will definitely have you running away in  terror!

When you’re finally done with the haunt, you walk into a midway that includes games, photo opportunities, escape rooms, axe throwing and a gift shop. It really felt like walking around in a carnival there. The gift shop not only had a bunch of Midnight Terror merchanidse, but halloween stuff such as ghost salt shakers, purses, keychains and much more. They even have a little mini bar where you can buy drinks to calm your nerves after the haunt is over. Don’t forget to visit the palm reader as well!

All in all, Midnight Terror has really improved a lot this year and we were really impressed with all the team work that they did in every single room. They had actors teaming up on you. As you were looking at one monster, another would pop on out of nowhere. We have been to this haunt before and we just have to say that they have made a lot of changes since the last time we went. This year was really different because these actors were so full of energy, and they really changed up a lot of the rooms as well. We have to take our hats off to the whole team at Midnight Terror because you guys did a fantastic job! Very proud of all of you!
