Basement of the Dead Disturbia Haunted House Hayride of Horror

Basement of the Dead Review

Basement of the Dead Review 2021

Halloween Blast went to the Basement of the Dead. Their tickets are $35 General Admission, and $50 VIP which allows you to skip the line. They are located at 42 W. New York St. Aurora, IL 60506.

As we arrived at the haunt, we heard the music blasting by the best DJ ever, Psych Jam!!!!! Everytime we visit Basement of the Dead, Psych Jam always makes it feel like a party!! Basement of the Dead knows how to pump people up before entering the haunt. Beside the DJ, they will have the actors throw shirts and other merchandise into the crowd, so they know how to party and make you forget that they are going to terrorize you once you enter the haunt!!! As we were walking around the queue lines, we ran into Simbu. Simbu is a snake voodoo god of darkness. We asked him how his day was, he said it was a beautiful night because of the cold weather. He also put his voodoo pin through his tongue, which freaked us out. Not to mention that he HAS A VOODOO DOLL ON HIS VOODOO SKULL STAFF!!! Before you go into the haunt you’re greeted by Jeffey who gives you rules, Be sure to wear a mask or else you will end up being eaten by a monster!!!

As we entered the haunt, we walked through a dark hallway, which led to a room with a spinning floor. When we stepped on the wheel it started to move so I started to walk toward the door to the next part of the haunt. The floor started to move faster and then the entrance to the haunt seemed to get farther and farther from me. Charlie the Chainman tricked us because as soon as I got closer to the door, it moved again!!! Finally, Charlie let us go and we were able to walk toward the entrance. As we kept walking through, we got to a hospital and we saw some patients bleeding out from their intestines!! The lighting and scenery really reminded me of an old scary movie.  Watch out for the mannequins or what you think is a mannequin. They really move and pop out when you aren’t looking. One of our reviewers Karen screamed at the top of her lungs because she got so scared from the nurse that popped out at her. As you get past the hospital, everything goes black and dark but there are a ton of surprises in the darkness so beware! The characters seem to get hungry as you walk through the haunt because one of the friendly ghosts named Crypto Von Shandor threw us off and made us laugh because he wanted pizza. Although right after, we met a guy with a pan of intestines and he was interested in cooking our intestines or offering us someone else’s. I did not want to be his dinner so I was looking for a way out, and as I looked over I saw a giant wood saw just chopping up a body. He saw me look over and said, “don’t worry, that will only be you if you do not hurry out of here” and chased us out with his chainsaw!!!

Well there is more, but I want to talk about the second part of the haunt!! It is a 3D haunt! They give you disposable 3D glasses, so after you’re done with the 3D haunt, you can throw the glasses out or keep them. Basement of the Dead is not using reusable glasses in case you were wondering!!! Calypso will greet you and give you rules! As you walk through everything, everything will pop off the walls at you! The animatronics, walls and even the floors seem like they’re moving! I absolutely loved that part of the haunt!! Since you are wearing 3D glasses, you can not even tell if the mannequin is an actor or the actor is a mannequin, so there were quite a few surprises!!! One part of the haunt I wanted to mention was these clown girls we saw. They were so energetic and they were bouncing off the walls and screaming. These girls just seem to move so quickly, I was absolutely amazed!!!

Basement of the Dead always has a huge party outside but inside they bring the fear to you!! It’s funny because it’s like they are trying to trick you into making you forget that you’re about to walk into your worst nightmare. In the basement it is dark with very little light. The monsters are unforgiving inside the basement. The way the basement operates is very different from other haunts. This haunt makes you have a great time, then goes “Ha! Fooled you!!!!!!” and throws you into the darkness known as Basement of the Dead. Want to know what we’re talking about? Then see for yourself and head to Aurora to check out the Basement of the Dead for yourself!
