Hayride of Horror Review 2021
Halloween Blast visited Hayride of Horror Haunted House. It is located at 199 Woods Dr. Lockport, IL 60441. Tickets for Hayride of Horror are $15, BUT for only $10 more you get 2 haunts: Hayride of Horror AND Curse of the Bayou!
I just want to let you know, this is an OUTSIDE HAUNT! So dress appropriately meaning LAYERS! It gets really cold! Also, don’t forget to wear appropriate shoes! You will be walking through the Curse of the Bayou…if you’re brave enough to do so that is! As we walked in, we ran into Garbage Burger. Garbage Burger is a sliding devil. No seriously, if you’re not paying attention, he might catch you off guard and slide right in front of you, scaring you to death. As we were waiting in line, we met the famous Hayride of Horror Monkey! We also met a few more characters like Twinkie, DWalt, Gidget and Craxlyx. They were great at being so interactive with the guests. Twinkie just squeaks, so I couldn’t figure out her name until I talked to Gidget.
Then it was time to go on to the Hayride of Horror. Along the path of walking up to the tractor, we met Stan. He was pretty cool! Although he said he “wasn’t part of the show, just crowd control.” I thought it was funny because he did a great job at acting.
After Stan, next you see a few clowns. One of them came up and said, “Which one of you will be my victim”, so Karen points at David and the clown tells him “Hurry onto the wagon!”. Once you get onto the wagon, one of the characters comes onto the tractor with you to oversee and be sure everything goes smoothly. Along the way we met a few girls, they were amazingly creepy! All these girls did was just stand there and as you get farther and farther their makeup gets creepier and creepier! Keep in mind these are just kids acting! I was stunned by how great they did! These kids really reminded me of the professional haunters! Oh if you think you are safe in the wagon, you’re not. There were a few crazy super hyper characters who jumped all over the tractor. I loved it! They were so full of energy! So again, if you think you’re safe in the wagon…they will jump at the side of the wagon or even hang onto it to terrorize you. I don’t want to spoil too much for you about the Hayride of Horror, but we drove into Camp Crystal Lake and multiple kids wearing hockey masks walked up to the Tractor. One even got on and stared at this one customer! Then he got off and the next person to hop on was Michael Meyers! Michael got onto the tractor and went all the way around the entire tractor! He was trying to figure out who his next victim was!
Next, we visited Curse of the Bayou! As we waited in line, we ran into Pumpkin, who had a pumpkin in her arms. She said hi to us, then started eating the guts of the pumpkin. I guess that’s why they call her Pumpkin!! As we walked up and down the hill you meet Mr. Bones & his partner! Don’t forget to bring candy or spare change with you to put in his bucket! In Curse of the Bayou, they have a maze that has some great popouts. The thing that creeped me out the most was there was a sensor for a scare that only went off when you walked through it. Well I was creeped out because no one walked past it and the sensor went off! One of the characters was great because he climbed on top of the maze structure and was everywhere ! Any corner I turned he was there to fill a lot of the rooms! We met the Queen with her slave. She let the slave lose on the us as she ran up on us and growled at everyone! Their acting was amazing.
I just want to applaud all of the actors and actresses because it was so cold out there! They all did a wonderful job of putting on a wonderful show! You have actors who have been there for years but it’s the kids who steal the show. They are hungry, they want to scare people and put on an amazing show. It is so awesome to see because they are just getting started in the industry. Some of the greatest haunters started at a young age.
All in all if you are looking for a place to take the family to, this is THE haunt to go to! You will seriously be knocked off your feet with the incredible performances and there will for sure be scares for the whole family!
