Massacre was absolutely BUMPING when we walked up. They did not have the entrance open as we were early but had the big bay door open to see the queline and they were already blasting music and stalking around before the doors were officially opened. The first person to greet us in line was Trixie who was passing out candy to those she interacted with. She was even nice enough to ask what kind of candy we liked and we got to pick which was really sweet. As you pass the front door to the queue line, there is a small bar to your left (cash only) and a few paces away they take your photo with decorations and a creature behind you. There are signs all over in the main room telling you to “wear your F****** MASK!!!” so make sure you have it or you gotta go get one. They WILL get up in your face (all actors and personnel of the haunt are wearing masks or shields of some sort) and Scream at you to put it on. They are NOT playing games. There is only so much they can do to keep people spaced, but they can definitely tell you to leave for not protecting others. It is very warm in this haunt, so wear something cool.

Once in the haunt itself, I remember things being very dark and guiding myself with my hands alot. Pretty sure I accidentally touched a few actors in there because of it. There was a satanic church we were in at one point that I LOVED the decor in. lots of stonework and I remember a glowing face on the wall above us. DON’T FORGET TO PET THE GOAT ON YOUR WAY OUT!!! They still have the one room that is on a 45 degree angle and I always have fun running up the incline and watching the rest of my team tug themselves up using the handrail. I have finally mastered coming down the other side without running face first into a wall from momentum. Another thing I noticed was the clown room looked different and I couldn’t figure out why. Then I realized that they took away the 3D glasses for safety because of covid, so for the first time, we got to see that part of the haunt as just 2D walls and floors and it’s still just as cool. We got to enjoy the lights and colors instead of looking at how things jumped off walls at you. They also had a CTA train that would rock back and forth like the real train. To make it more realistic is that they had the actual door closing, next stop audio!!!!! That blows my mind. To put a cherry on top they had an actor in there asking for money,  your shoes and wallet like he was trying to rob you. If you live in Chicago and rode the CTA train you know what kind of people you see sometimes on the train. So for Massacre to put that much detail, and work into the train, it paid off. The last thing I want to talk about is something new they put in. There is a new elevator and it is the BEST elevator I have been in yet. I don’t want to spoil any more of the haunt for you this season, so go check out Massacre Haunted House!!
