Nightmare on Leamington review
Nightmare On Leamington is located at 4810 S. Leamington Ave. Chicago, IL. 60638. When you arrive at the Nightmare on Leamington, you realize you are at a school. We had NO idea that this haunt was inside a school! Tickets are $5 and the money goes to the school, which I think is awesome!
Now, this review is going to be a little different, because it is small. We found out that they built this haunt in 4 days! HOW they did it in 4 days is beyond me!
As we enter the haunt, we watch a video with a skeleton giving us the rules to the haunt. After that we enter the first room. We were blown away by how much detail was in this room! It was like a medevil torture chamber with torture implements hanging everywhere! Every room they had, had amazing detail!
The acting was also phenomenal! You can tell that they had put their hearts into this haunt. One of the rooms that stood out to us was this room that had black and white stripes. They had a strobe in this room and it made everything very disorienting.
Now, you can tell the people who set up this haunt put their heart and soul into it, and didn’t just put up walls and call it a haunt. No, just walking through it and seeing all the small details, you can see how much work they put into this haunt. For only 4 days, they had to have put in a lot and worked very hard to get it set up so well.
Once again, the actors also did a wonderful job! It’s places like these that make me love the haunt industry. Overall, Nightmare on Leamington did a wonderful job! We here at Halloween Blast would like to say great job to the whole Leamington crew. Keep up the great work, and we will see you next year!
Statesville Haunted Prison Review
Statesville Haunted Prison is located at 17250 S. Weber Rd. Crest Hill, IL. 60403. General admission is $30, and VIP admission is $45.
When we arrived, we ended up in a cage under the guard tower with a bunch of people. They treat you like incoming inmates as you walk in. Be careful, the inmates are crazy and will pop come at you! Then they kidnapped the owner of Halloween Blast and made him sing a song on stage with another inmate! If you end up being the lucky one in your group, have fun! We also ran into fluffy. I brought my teddy bear to keep me safe but once again, fluffy stole my teddy bear and rip him apart. I guess fluffy just doesn’t like teddy bears.
A room I really liked was the clown room. I really like how it was set up and the patterns they used. Also, watchout for the flying clowns in this room! They come out of nowhere!
If you don’t like creepy crawlers, they have a guy who holds a bin of them in this haunt. I was definitely creeped out because I HATE bugs! As I walked past, I swear I felt my skin tingle. My co worker Amanda actually stopped to pet and coo at one of the cockroaches. YICK! I also really don’t like mice, and there are portions of the walls cutout throughout the haunt with plexiglass over them with LIVE RATS! And of course, there was my coworker playing with the damn things! Something is seriously wrong with her…
One of the new rooms my boss pointed out was the sewer. The design of it was really good. It really felt like I was walking through the sewer. Now be careful because there are rats everywhere. There coming out of the wall or hiding somewhere, so be careful or the rats might get you. They also have an alligator call chance the snapper. You will not see snapper until it’s too late.
When you get into the processing room, they really make you feel like an inmate. I really felt that the inmates there did a good job. I really felt like I was in a madhouse. They hand all of you uniforms to take with you to your cell.Another cool room they had was their hall of mirrors room with tons of characters in it. I still don’t know if they were all mannequins or if there were people hiding amongst them.
There was also a second part to the haunt called City of the Dead. In the City of the Dead, watch out! They have a ton of angry coal miners. While your waiting to go into the coal mines, you stand behind a gate. If someone knocks, knock back! They tell you knock knock jokes! I got, “Knock knock. Who’s there? You’re a chicken!” I was definitely a chicken going through the coal mine! Be sure to wear shoes that can get wet, it gets a little damp down there under ground!
We are taken into the mines where this wraith gives you a warning and the creatures of the mines rush you! They had a snake room in the mines too! You can pet them as long as you get permission first. Number 1 rule of haunts: always ask first before you touch any actor, prop, or animal; for your safety as well as the actors and animals. If you are good in the snake room, you get a sticker! We got stickers. They liked us a lot because of our “manners”. We just call it common courtesy.
All in all, I think statesville did a really good job this year. There wasn’t a lot of big changes, but there were quite a few smaller ones if you have a good memory and a keen eye. I know for a fact the was something different in the clown room, I just couldn’t put my finger on it! As we talk to the warden about statesville we FINALLY GOT TO MEET SHARKY!!!!!!! Sharky was amazing to finally meet her until see pickpocket us. Sharky stole the owners keys and put it on her little chainsaw. Then all of a sudden she saw a key chain to Hells gate and scream “I found the key my ticket is free!” the owner of Halloween blast lost it and could not stop laughing. If you know what happens when you find the key at Hells gate then you will know why this was so funny. Sharky was a blast to be around with. She is so entertaining and we hear so much about her. So when we finally met her we were not disappointed. It’s always a lot of fun going to statesville and seeing people who recognize us and purposely try to mess with us. It always makes our trip special and I can’t wait to return next year.
Reapers Realm review
Reapers Realm is located at 626 177th St. Hammond, IN. 46324. They have many different ticket prices, so it would be best to go to their website (http://reapersrealm.com/admission) to see prices. They also have a $3 parking fee to park in their lot. Just to let you guys know, Reapers Realm does have a carnival (CarnEVIL) with rides, games and food. The night we went there, there weren’t that many actors walking around. We only saw maybe two walking around. Reapers Realm is composed of three haunts: Haunted Mansion, Reapers Revenge and Reaper’s Woods.
The first stop we made was the Haunted Mansion. As you enter, you are greeted by The Reaper himself. He tells you the haunt rules and gives you the chance to leave. If you are brave enough, he lets you enter the next room.
The first room was the cage maze. The monsters were jumping all over the bars! As we walked through the mansion, we entered a boiler room were we met…FREDDY KRUEGER! As we got closer to the end, there is the 3D room. Before you enter the 3D room, you have to go down a slide. The 3D here is AMAZING! From clowns face paint, to the detailS on the walls!
The next stop is Reapers Revenge. Before you enter the haunt, you see an inmate in a chair. There is a woman telling us what he did, and that he must be punished. As she pulls down the lever and starts electrocuting him, the lights started flickering and completely turned off! A moment later, the light turned back on but the inmate was gone! Now, we can’t tell you what happens next, but be careful! Reapers Revenge is like a dark maze and it’s very easy to lose yourself.
The final haunt was Reapers Woods. As we enter the woods, there was a lot of red balloons flying around. We soon realized why there were so many balloons…we ran into Pennywise! As we got deeper into the woods, we also bumped into Michael Myers. He started following us, but when we looked back, he was gone. We ran into him again laying on the ground and we thought he was dead. Then all of the sudden, he rose up and started chasing us! I still don’t know how he got so far ahead of us!
Reapers Realm has been around a very long time. The Haunted Mansion is always amazing to look at. You can actually see the mansion from the expressway it’s so large! Another cool scene is the Michael Myers house that they have in the middle of the Reapers Woods. One of the new scenes I loved was the “It” scene that they put into the Reapers Woods. They put a good amount of detail in it that looked amazing! I hope to see a lot of changes and new ideas next year.
Hayride of Horror And Curse of the Bayou
Halloween Blast went to Hayride of Horror And Curse of the Bayou. It is located at 199 Woods Drive. Lock Port, IL. 60441. Tickets are $15 for single attraction, $25 for the combination pass to see both attractions and $35 for speed pass to both attractions. Parking is free!
The first haunt we went through was The HayRide of Horror. It’s a very interactive hayride. They have characters that walk up to the moving hay ride and even hop onto the moving Hay ride and interact with you!. When you drive through the tunnel, search high and low because characters are everywhere! In the Dell Wood cemetery, Intestines get pulled out so hold onto your own intestines! Also, watch out for Jason, he will follow behind you at random point of your journey.
In The Curse of Bayou, you walk on foot through the haunt. In the forgotten cemetery, all the forgotten souls will join you on your adventure! I really felt like I was in a movie. They really surround you and it was pretty creepy. Skeleton boy will greet you and see if your worthy enough to meet the Queen. If you are, I wish you all the luck. You will greet the queen on the way through the cemetery. The queen had two zombies on chains as they try to attack us. If you are already scared walking through it, you will be even more scared now because at this point, they split you up. Choose wisely, for you have a choice between your heart or your mind! Which door will you pick?
I just want to say, I was blown away by the acting at this haunt. I was told by the owner herself that the youngest actor is 6 years old but the parent must be there at all times. All the haunts I have been to, all the actors are at least 16 years old or older. These kids are amazing! I could not believe they were young kids acting! All those kids had so much high energy! NONE of them broke character! The oldest actor is 70 years old. That’s incredible! It takes A LOT of stamina to be a haunter, no matter your role. Please be sure to dress warm! It is an outside haunt! If it rained the night before, be sure to wear appropriate shoes because it will get muddy!
Evil Intentions review
Evil Intentions is located at 900 Grace Street Elgin, IL 60120. Tickets are $30 for general admission and $40 for VIP Fast Pass.
Evil Intentions has now purchased the building next door to them making the haunt now 3 floors. The first thing I remember seeing was the que line actors. There was a guy on the floor at the very front of the line that looked very morose and relaxed sitting with his back against the wall. I remember turning around to look at another actor in a diaper playing with a plunger and felt a really fast movement behind me. As fast as I had turned, I turned back to the guy and he was in my face. He was 5 feet away from me 2 seconds before. This guy is a mover, and are often one of the most unpredictable of actors and the ones you often have to be wary of.
We immediately get on and Industrial Elevator entering the haunt. You could probably fit a small truck on this thing and all you see when you look up is cables and pulls. Not being a fan of elevators, I damn near went into a panic attack when I realized where I was. Thankfully, they just give you the rules here and let you out the other side. We ended up taking the stairs to the next floor.
Evil intention always have the uneasy feeling when you enter the haunt and walk threw it.I remember going through a church and there was this super tall bearded guy in there that I assume was supposed to be the pastor. I also remember laughing really hard when he told us he doesn’t understand why people keep coming to his church, they are all looking for God, but God is not here. I don’t know why I found this so funny, maybe it was the way he said it, really sinister like but with this really confused look on his face when I looked back at him. I can’t remember how many rooms after that, but there was an EXTREMELY tight balloon wall and my crewmates had to help push me through because I got stuck halfway. We came to a room were a woman was measuring us like we were getting a dress or suit made for us but come to find out it was for a coffin. Now the next part is amazing. They have a maze but it was in the shape of coffins. This was so creative how they did this. To who ever came up with this idea, we love it.
The last room i remember is the white room. There were strobes going of and it had a really high ceiling with a lot of things to climb on. I was almost to the door across the room when I heard a soft whistle in my ear. By the time I turned, no one was there. When I turned to look the other way, however, all I saw was teeth! My mysterious whistler was so close to me, I couldn’t even see the rest of his face at first! That was probably one of the best scares I got that night!
All in all, Evil Intentions pretty much revamped the entire haunt and we all loved what they did with it! I think of all the haunts we’ve been to this season, this haunt has changed the most. It was refreshing to go to a haunt and have it be some actor you recognise, and the same vibe, but have everything look completely different. A LOT of work went into these changes for this year and let me tell you, man did it pay off! Great job guys!
Green Bay Fear
Halloween Blast went to Green Bay Fear. They are located at 1950 Bond Street. Green Bay Wisconsin 54303. They have free parking in front of the attraction. General Admission are $20 and Fast Pass is $30. Instead of calling themselves a haunted house, they actually refer to themselves as a haunted attraction. They call themselves a haunted attraction because they actually have 3 haunts instead of just one and a small museum like place full of creepy and supernatural elements.
The first haunted house we went to was Jaden West’s Shawano Manor. We started in a room where a secret door appeared in the most unexpected place…it was in a fireplace! It was really cool! Also, keep an eye out for faces, they will be watching you!
Next, we went to Twisted Trails. The man with the chainsaw is hiding, so beware! He will find you. Just when I thought the trail was over I ran into a really cool looking character, and I wanted to take his photo thinking the trail was over. All of a sudden, the people in my group start screaming! Turns out, it wasn’t over yet, the woods had just thinned out. I looked up super excited to keep going and it just got more creepy as I kept going through.
The third haunt was called Mr. Jingles Fun House. This one was definitely my favorite! It’s definitely not your typical fun house…it’s WAY better! There was smoke everywhere! You could barely see your hand in front of your face which made everything so much more mysterious! I felt so nervous because I was wondering where the characters were hiding. All of the sudden they would pop out of nowhere! I was so scared! There were so many rooms in the fun house! I even ran into a wall and started laughing hysterically because I felt so stupid. I loved all the cool effects they put into the fun house.
The last part of the attraction was not a haunted house, but more of a museum. This place was called the Odditorium. If you are into history and mystical items, this is something that may interest you. My favorite part was seeing two mini skeletons holding hands in a glass showcase. I can’t keep going because it’s not terribly large and it would spoil the fun.
This was our first time at green bay fear and i got to say I had a blast. All the actors were amazing. Green bay fear was an amazing experience. We made an 3 hour drive to them and it was worth the drive.
Insanity Haunted House
Halloween Blast visited Insanity Haunted House. Insanity Haunted House is located 3940 IL-251 Peru, IL. 61354. Its located inside Peru Mall. There is free parking in the mall parking lot. General Admission tickets are $15 and VIP (skip the line) is $25.
Beware of Inmate 4707! As you wait in line he might try messing with you. He might even kidnap you! During our visit, he kidnapped my co worker Amanda. He eventually brought her back smiling. She got a special surprise! I’m not going to tell you what it was, you’re gonna have to find out for yourself!
As we walked into the haunt, we spotted a kid who is stuck in an old locker and begs to be let out. Keep walking! If you don’t, you might not make it out alive! Also there is a pig man in the butcher room. I asked if there was bacon and he said in his pig voice, “next time I see hello kitty, (for those of you who don’t know, I’m asian) I’m going to kick her in the *SQUEAL*!”, but you all know what that means!
When you end up in the library, please be sure to be quiet or else you will be doomed to hell! I asked someone in that room a question and he slammed his book shut screaming at me about being loud and making him lose his place. Be sure to check out the details here! I loved every single inch of the library.
For all the tall people, you will enjoy the green portal. Unfortunately for the shorter people, stand on your tippy toes so you can enjoy it more. I loved the green portal room, but it came to an end quickly because I’m pretty short.
If you hate dolls you will really hate them even more they are everywhere and surround you and stare at you! They really come ALIVE! There was a girl crying in the corner telling us that they were in her head and wouldn’t leave her alone. As we walked past, I heard this weird shushing sound like material rubbing against itself. I turned to look behind us, and I see this girl bent completely backwards running after us. We got the heck out of there!
There was also a church that we walked through. The preacher was screaming out at his congregation when we walked in and threw a fit that we interrupted his sermon. As we were trying to get out of the church, one of his nuns rushed us screaming that we needed to repent for our sins before we could leave, or we would never be forgiven!
In the end, I think we all had a really fun night at Insanity Haunted House. It was somewhere we haven’t been before, and it was refreshing to walk through something new with no expectations. Having never been before, I feel they did a really good job with the space they had to work with and sticking to themes that went together. For a haunt inside of a mall, it felt much larger than you would expect it to. If they keep up the great work they’ve been doing, I can’t wait to see what changes they make next year!

Terror on the Fox review
Terror on the Fox is located at 2285 S Broadway, Green Bay, WI 54304. Tickets are $24.99 and $34.99 for Fast pass.
Terror on the Fox is something altogether different compared to what Halloween Blast has seen in the past. At first, I didn’t think there was any line acting at all. But then we reached the front of the line, and then I understood.
When you reach the front of the line, A freaking train pulls up! There are actors walking around on the train that get off and work the line before boarding with you. There are more actors that stay on the train that work you over as they take you to your final destination. You have to ride this train to the haunt (it’s about a 3-5 minute ride). They drop you off at this well lit area with a concessions stand. Then you finally get to the line at the entrance to the haunt. When you reach the front of the line, there is an actor waiting to take a picture with you.
Entering the haunt, you go through this little round about thing that takes you into a cemetary. You are surrounded by mausoleums and even eventually enter one. The details inside of it are beautiful. It all looks like actual stone work you would find on old graves and headstones back in the day. After leaving the mausoleum and cemetery, you reach another concessions stand (for the VIPS, General goes straight to the line for the second half of the haunt).
When you are in the second line, again, I did not see actors working it… for a good reason! You are standing outside of a mini-mansion where the actors are up in a tower and in the second story balcony putting on a concert for you while you wait! This is one of the coolest things I have seen yet! Usually if a haunt has music and dancing mixed in during your wait, you can usually find me there! I live for this stuff! I love watching actors have fun while putting on a show for you!
One of the things I remember very clearly was someone I’ll just call “Poop Girl”. We came around a corner into a bathroom scene and she was hiding in the shower. The reason I remember her so clearly is she almost made my boss puke. She came running out of the shower, shouldered past us real quick and dropped to her knees in front of the toilet. She then shoves her hand in and it comes out covered in what looks like poop and starts shoveling it into her mouth! I’ll I heard was, “Hhlluugggghh” from behind me and turn around to my boss green in the face with a hand over his mouth. I laughed so damn hard my stomach was hurting! It takes a lot to gross me out by the way, but even my stomach flipped over on that one. Mostly I was shocked because it looked so real. I have no idea what they even had in there that she was eating! You can usually tell if it’s chocolate or nutella, but this didn’t look like either. It had shape and it’s color was more of a graying brown. It was freaking awesome! I don’t know why that is the moment that is clearest in my mind, but this is what I took away from my experience.
On the way out of the haunt they have another spot to take photos yourself and to buy merchandise. I thought we would be getting back on the train but we actually just crossed the track right behind the coach which takes you right back out to the que and ticket booth. It was a really great night with a few things I had never seen before. I really want to go back next year and see what they add to it. I know I’ll remember to bring money for a concessions stop next time to watch the concerts for a bit. I’m sure there are more things in the haunt that I missed or I’d probably have even more to say on this haunt. Go see for Terror on the Fox for yourself and have a bast! for tickets go to https://terroronthefox.com/
Catacombs Haunted House
Catacombs Haunted House is located at 6143 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago Illinois. General Admission is $10, and the Fast Pass is $18. For more information, please visit http://www.scarypopcorn.com/index.html
The haunted house is located in St. Pascal’s Public School and Church, but only in their basement. There is free parking across the street. We walked into the school, and we saw a ton characters! I gagged just watching Peanut the Clown play with his bloody saliva. Then there was another clown, she was very playful and made cool animal balloons! There was also a drunk hanging around. He was stumbling around the line for a while and when people asked him what exactly he was drinking, his response was, “the GOOD stuff!”.
When we first walked in, we were greeted by Medusa who had a live snake on her. She advised us to wear underwear, and use the bathroom before hand due to someone having an accident earlier. She is also the Catacombs Rule Master and gave us the usual haunt rules before entering the basement (no running, no touching, ect.).
One room I really enjoyed was the clown room. They were really clever starting with a pitch black room and you think you are entering a maze, but suddenly the lights come on and you are surrounded. Clowns were jumping up and down everywhere like jumping beans! Just a warning, they will get really close to you and up in your face.
There was also a mirror maze, which I really enjoyed. I enjoyed it so much because I really had to feel around and figure out where to keep walking. When I walked in, it felt like one huge wall of mirrors, but instead it was a maze of mirrors. I liked having the challenge of that room. People jumped out at me, and they did a really good job using the dark and camouflaging themselves.
We also got stuck in a cage and couldn’t figure out how to get to the next room. If you want to know how we ended up getting out of the cage, you’ll just have to go check it out for yourself! I advise you to wear comfortable shoes, because you will be walking on a lot of uneven ground.
This is catacombs 40th year. They do an amazing job from line acting, to detail and to the whole crew that put in the hard work to make catacombs so special. It just shows why they are still around and still going strong. if you haven’t been to this haunt yet then you are missing out. We can not wait to see what they come up with next. here to 40 years of catacombs/ St. Pascal’s haunted house!!!!!
