Dungeon of Doom
Dungeon of Doom is located 600 29th Street in Zion Illinois 60099. They have 2 ticket packages. The first one is general admission which is $30, and the Ultimate VIP (to the front of the line) is $50. They also have a special package for blackout dates: $30 General Admission and VIP for $50. For specific dates and times, check out their website at https://dungeonofdoom.com/tickets/
When we first arrived, we had to wait in line before going into the haunt. We weren’t bored for even a second. We were constantly entertained by many, many talented actors/actresses. They had at least 5 or 6 line actors walking around entertaining people. Entering the haunt, they will put you in a cage with many other people ( think 10-20, this cage is MASSIVE) and make sure you follow the haunt rules, or you will deal with the consequences; possibly crawling around on your knees. They did that to the owner of HalloweenBlast, and it was hilarious! They had him facing the cage with his hands up, then had him crawling on the floor in circles. They did a great job separating us all out into small groups again so that you didn’t get stuck in a conga line going through the haunt.
After the fun of the cage, you were escorted into a room where you are shown a horrifying scene, and then the lights go off. We won’t tell you what happens, or what the scene is; we will just let you expense it for yourself. After that, into another room you go. You better be quick on your toes and be able to do some quick thinking, otherwise you might not make it to the next room alive. If you’re a person that doesn’t enjoy someone in your personal bubble, this isn’t the place for you. They really know how to get close and personal with you, which made the haunt extremely enjoyable for me.
I really felt like an ant in the haunt, they did that great of a job with their scenery. You didn’t just walk straight through the haunt, you had to get down and low. A little fashion advice for you, be sure you wear appropriate shoes; not every step will be level. If you don’t mind being a little squished, this is definitely a haunt for you. Balls are gonna be coming your way, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled or you maybe BURIED ALIVE! If you are claustrophobic, YOU MAY SIT THIE ROOM OUT! They will not force you to participate if you wish to opt out of this room.
There were a couple of rooms that I feel deserve an honorable mention. One was the caves, which had amazing scenery and detail was impeccable. Their actors also did a fantastic job in the asylum area. They were jumping all over the place, acting absolutely certifiable. They kept asking me if I had pills on me. Speaking of the actors, they all did an amazing job this year and we were blown away at how well they all were. Hats off to the Dungeon of Doom actors, and everyone who put their heart and soul into making this an incredible year. For tickets go to https://dungeonofdoom.com/
Realm of Terror
Realm of Terror is located at 421 W Rollins Rd, Round Lake Beach, IL 60073. Ticket prices are $25 for general admission, $35 to skip the line, and vip is $45 which includes one drink ticket. The time to walk through the haunt is 20 mins.
The night we went to Realm of Terror was on opening night. So a lot of their actors were getting used to their spot for the night. As we waited in line, there were some actors walking around. One of them snuck up behind my teammate and scared her half to death. She doesn’t scare easily, but this guy got her good. There was also a farmer. He looked like part of his face was either burned or ripped off by his eye. He would walk up to customers asking them for their boogers and would be looking in there nose. He was very entertaining to watch. Finally it was our time to head into the house. Head into the haunt, they have you walking up to a house that they built outside. As we walked up the stairs, we were greeted by Brisket the Cannibal Caretaker, and his pumpkin mannequin bestie, Fred. He was our Rule Master for the night. Finally, we entered the haunt. It was set up really nice and looked like an actual house. Now just to remind you, we were walking through an extreme haunt, so they do get up in your face and into your personal bubble. The story behind this haunt is you walk through the house, you enter a portal and it takes you through the realms of terror. It took us from a normal house, to a realm of blood and gore. There was one room, where there was a lady screaming at the top of her lungs as a blade cut through her stomach. Another room that was really cool, was a church room with a goat devil that was reading from a book. He likes to catch you off guard and come after you. The haunt ended with a 5 min dark maze. You can not see the monsters, but they can see you. So when you are not expecting it, they will pop up out of nowhere and scare you to death. All and all, this is an extreme haunt that will get up and into your face. So, do you think you can take on the Realm of Terror? For tickets go to www.realmofterror.com
13 floors review
We had a one of a kind experience at 13th Floor Haunted House!!! Located 1940 George St, Melrose Park, IL 60160. Prices are very reasonable for the show and scenery they created. Regular price is $20, 30$ for Fast pass and $40 for skipping the line. First thing once we arrived, we were greeted by clowns with creepy smiles. I was freaked out, as I am not a fan of clowns. While I was waiting in line to go in, a guy with a giant hatchet came out of nowhere and scared the hell out of me!
Throughout the 25 minutes in the haunt, I tried my best not to run! I was so on edge; in a good way, of course. I couldn’t imagine walking through the haunt alone, but I definitely recommend it. One thing I thought was cool was that most of the first part of the haunt was redone. Now yes, there was some stuff they left alone, but for the most part they did an overhaul on the first part of the haunt. For example, last year they had an iron gate you had to walk through to enter the haunt whereas now they have a wooden gate. I remember walking into this red room and looking up and seeing a man dangling in chains from the ceiling. He was horrifying and you could almost feel this feeling of despair in the pit of your stomach when he would scream. My favorite room was the swamp. I loved the visual effect of the lights and the swirling smoke almost like you are hallucinating on swamp gas. In the second part of the haunt, they have a casino room with a card table and a bunch of slot machines. I was set up and lit like walking into a real casino.
Now, to be reasonable, there were some aspects of the haunt that could have been worked on. There were moments where some of the actors were badly timed or just seemed exhausted and in need of a recharge. Now it could’ve just been an off night, but I was something I noticed and felt should be addressed.
Overall the haunt was amazing and had a very welcoming environment. Beware of the jump scares, because you will be caught off guard! I recommend everyone adding 13th Floor Haunted Houses to their list of haunts to visit. To buy tickets go to https://www.13thfloorchicago.com/
Unknown World of the Paranormal convention Review
This is our first ever event review! We are used to doing haunted house reviews, but we thought we will do something different for a change. So this review is on the Unknown World of the Paranormal convention. The event was on Saturday 21, 2019 at 8100 beloit ave, bridgeview, IL. 60455. This event is not your typical Halloween event, this was an event based on the paranormal. Now yes, there was some halloween feel to it of course, but it was really interesting to see REAL GHOST HUNTERS AND PSYCHICS THERE!!!!!! When you go to a Halloween event you really don’t see people of these professions there, but this event lived up to its name. They had a lot of speakers at the convention, people like: Bob Trzeciak who is a palm reader, Neal Gibbons and Dale Kaczmerak who had real paranormal evidence, and many other speakers as well.
This convention also had a paranormal workshop as well. They had special effects makeup by D.E.A.D. Rising haunted house’s owner John Vitiritti, palm reading by Bob Trzeciak, proper instructions for paranormal equipment by Neal Gibbons, and a psychic/medium Ed Shanahan. Now we didn’t have a chance to visit any of these workshops because we were extremely busy that day, but from what people were telling us, they were really great workshops to check out. Even though we didn’t visit with any of these people, there was one person we did see: Svengoolie!!! THE chicago horror movie legend, Svengoolie. He was giving out autographs and taking pictures with people. Svengoolie was a really nice guy to talk to, but I think what made our meet and greet so memorable was when our very own Karen give him our flyer and gave him HER autograph.
This event had everything, even vendors. Kylie O’connell is the person who set up this whole event and let me tell you, she did an amazing job for her first paranormal event. Everything was so organized. She made sure she checked in on every single person to see if everything was going good for them. I’ve been to other events with my booth and I have NEVER had someone come to check on us and to see if we were doing ok. This lady made sure her event went smoothly. It just shows you how much heart she has and how much hard work she put into this event. We here at Halloween Blast would like to say great job to Kylie and all the other staff members who helped you put this event together. This was an amazing even,t and was put together wonderfully. Great job to all of you.

Shattered Nightmares review
Shattered Nightmares is located 1609 Lafayette Avenue in Terre Haute Indiana. Tickets are $12 each. This haunt is CASH ONLY! Shattered Nightmare has a free parking lot on the premises. It took 30 minutes to walk through the haunt.
When you walk into the first room, it’s very dark. I enjoyed how dark it was because I was wondering what might pop out or scare me, it really got my imagination going. Be sure to keep an eye out for your tour guide! She loves to play and will randomly disappear and reappear on you. I liked how our tour guide kept disappearing, because then the haunted house became even more scary knowing you were the only ones in that room! I even got lost trying to get to the next room because my tour guide disappeared and it was very dark. As we kept walking through the haunted house I came across the Nun room. In the Nun room, I felt like I was walking through a museum at first. Then, everything started moving and we got caged in! I won’t tell you what happened next, that’s for you to find out! In another room, one of the clowns did a great job of making every single hair on my body stand up! He got extremely close and even sniffed me! As you walk through the haunted house, be careful what you touch. You never know what may randomly fall toward you. I like how this haunted house was interactive. Certain rooms you have to walk through quietly if you don’t want zombies to hear you! If they do, they will come running and try to eat you! I was very impressed with the haunted house due to the fact every single spot was filled! There was not one empty spot and they didn’t miss any scares! I got scared from above and below! Not many haunted houses have scares from below! Watch your toes! The actors and actresses did a good job with all the hard work they put in! If you haven’t visited Shattered Nightmares yet, I highly recommend it! I hope to return next year!
Hayride of Horror and Curse of the Bayou
199 E. Woods Dr. Lockport, IL 60441
Tickets: Hayride of Horror and Curse of the Bayou $15 EACH, Hayride of Horror AND Curse of the Bayou $25, Speed pass for BOTH TOGETHER $35
Hayride of Horror was our first hayride haunt and we loved it! This attraction is located in Dellwood Park. As you walk into the park, you will see concession stands, an escape room and a movie screen playing horror movies. Now Hayride of Horror has two attractions: the hayride and Curse of the Bayou which is like a haunted house. We hit the hayride first on our trip. What makes this hayride amazing is that it takes you through the scenes in every section of the park. They had different scenes like a junkyard, a cornfield with scarecrows, a circus, and sometimes, the actors would just come out of the forest. A lot of the time, the actors would jump on the hayride and try to scare people as the hayride was moving! Another thing that was amazing was Hayride of Horror had little kids acting! Now these little kids were amazing. I don’t know who trained them, but they were really good! In fact, all the actors at hayride of horror did an amazing job! The scarecrows did not move until the hayride left. Next thing you know, they are on the hayride with you! When we got to the monk area, there was ritual going on. Then, after we move away, the monks follow the hayride chanting with a book in their hands that had eyes that would blink! All and all, the hayride was an amazing experience!
Next, we went to Curse of the Bayou. Now, the whole haunt is outside, meaning there is no roof over your head. It starts you off where you meet a Vaudun Priestess who had two zombies on chains as her pets. She tells you to pick one of the three doors. You have no clue what horrors await you behind the three doors. This haunt is infested with zombies! The only problem I had with this haunt is that it wasn’t long enough! I wanted to see more! It felt too short. The Curse of the Bayou was good it was just too short.
Hayride of Horror was an amazing place to visit! We can’t wait to see what they come up with next year!
